Italian Naval Submarine Plaque or Wall Hanging.
The WW2 Italian Naval Submarine “ Delfino “ was a Squalo Class Submarine that served in the
Italian Regina Marina during the second World War .She was launched on the 27th of April
1930 .She saw action in the Black Sea ,Mediterranean Sea & the Aegean Sea. She Sank one Greek
Naval Cruiser Elli and Damaged another on a different mission. On a Patrol of Tobruk she was
attached by an RAF Short Sunderland and it was shot down by the submarines crew.
Follow patrols around Sicily and Malta in 1942 she was reassigned to the Submarine School at Pula for training.
In November 1942 she returned to active service and transported Ammunition and fuel to North Africa.
On March 23rd 1943, the Submarine Delfino was sunk an hour after leaving the port of Taranto. She
collided with her escort boat with the loss of 28 crew.
On the Bow of the submarine is an engraved Name and Date.
Note the Submarine Delfino SANK on the 23rd of March. So this plaque is dated 7 days before
The Frame is made from Aluminium metal with a Black painted insert. The Submarine is made from
a Nickle plated steel and is attached to the frame via a single screw fitting on the back.

Submarine size -19cm long by 3.2cm wide by 8mm thick.
